NICU

NICU- The Neonatal intensive care unit:-

Childbirth is both a joyous d a challenging event. The mother, as well as the infant, goes through a lot of changes in the body. A newborn has to get accustomed to the new life after coming out of the mother.

When the baby leaves/comes out of the mother’s body, they can not rely on the mother or her placenta for vital physiological processes.

What is NICU ( Neonatal Intensive care unit)?

Just after birth, a few babies require special care and attention and are admitted to NICU – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the hospital.

Neonatal is the phase of 28 days of for the baby right after birth. It can be hard and come as a shock for parents if they find that their just born baby has to be in the NICU. We, at’ Samarpan IVF and Laparoscopy centre’ understand the situation and deal with it in the best possible and professional manner. We not only provide the best medical facility but also handle the situation with sensitivity as we understand the parents’ situation and emotions. We are equipped with cutting-edge equipment and highly qualified medical personnel to provide specialized treatments to infants.

There could be many reasons why the baby has to be kept in the NICU. It could be because of the premature birth of the baby( born before 37 weeks of gestation), or the baby born is sick, underweight, etc. They are shifted to a critical care unit that is specialised in the care of preterm and unwell babies. We have extremely professional and trained doctors who are experts in this department. When the babies have recovered and no longer require special care and treatment, they are shifted from the Neonatal Intensive care unit. We also have breathing aids like ventilators, devices that deliver precise doses of medicines and fluid to the baby via tubes inserted into the baby’s vein, monitors that detect and check the baby’s heart rate, blood oxygen level and respiration, etc.

Our other facilities include a cooling bed to prevent brain harm for babies who have had a rough birth, provision of X-Ray machines in the NICU, a facility for phototherapy to treat jaundice and more.

We have a special staff available in the NICU. A well-qualified nurse who has knowledge and experience in dealing with newborn babies is always available in the NICU and knows and monitors the baby’s condition. There is a NICU manager and a Neonatologist who is in charge of the NICU. There is always a neonatologist on duty with whom you can clarify your doubts and ask about the baby’s recovery and medical condition.

We, at our hospital, provide an option for both an incubator that is covered or an open heated cot. This helps maintain the body temperature of the baby.

We value your trust and it means a lot to us. We are capable of handling any medical problem post-delivery and we are confident that you will find a reliable partner in us.
